Barry glared out of the windshield as the car spluttered away from the baseball field. He could see his youngest son sitting in the back, in his baseball uniform, clearly unhappy, and his wife beside him, trying to cheer the little boy up.

The boy could play decently, but the fact was that he just plain didn't want to play baseball. Or basketball. Or bowling. Or even tennis (he didn't know why he'd let Lina talk him into trying that). He DID like football, but the kid was bad at it (the Contaili girl up the road could play better, and she was literally half-blind!).

He waited until Aaron had gone inside before turning to Lina. "Our youngest is a sissy, Lina."

"He isn't a sissy, Barry."

"He is! The damn boy can't get into any sport, and the one sport he DOES like, he ain't good at!"

Lina sighed. "Have faith in him, honey. He'll make us proud someday, I can tell."

Barry huffed, but decided to pin his hopes on the thought that his boy might at least be something he could brag about, something that was manly!

NINE YEARS LATER

"Hut-one, hut-two, HIKE!"

Nathan sprinted down the field, ball in hand, scrambling like a chicken with a chopped off head to get to the end zone, when, all of a sudden, he dropped the ball, eyes locked onto one side, even as the other players landed on top of him.

"DAMMIT SNOWDEN!" The coach yelled, fist shaking as he glared at the boy. When the other players went to shower, he beckoned him over. "What. The hell. WAS THAT?" He yelled, spittle flying into Nathan's face.

"Sorry coach. I got distracted."

"You're damn right you got distracted! You've been distracted this whole practice! And the last four practices! And you weren't in practice the three before that!"

Nathan seemed to be looking at his feet in shame, but was actually looking over to the side at someone. The coach noticed it and followed his eyes.

He was looking at the waterboy, that odd little Holaven boy. And the kid was looking back. And they were looking at each other with an odd kinda lo-..

Ohhh.

"Snowden, you better get your damn mind off that boy, and on the damn ball! Or you know what'll happen? You'll lose your damn scholarship! Do you wanna end up like that Terrafino girl, chugging beers and shootin' paintballs at everything!?"

"No, sir."

"Good. Now hit the showers." He said. As the boy ran off, he thought he'd done a pretty good job with that speech.

But it didn't help the thought when Rose Snowden happily informed him two weeks later that she'd found her son kissing the waterboy at his house.

SIX YEARS LATER

Aaron smiled happily as he sat with Nathan, and grinned at the rings glimmering on both their left hands. They'd gotten a quick wedding, just their mothers, their friends and a judge.

Now they were happily married, and the next step came to his mind.

"Nathan?"

"Yeah, babe?"

"If he have kids..what do you want?" He asked, expecting to hear that he wanted a son.

Nathan was quiet a bit, then smiled. "A sweet wonderful kid who's just like you."

Aaron's eyes glimmered at this, and he hugged his husband tight. He loved that man.
